Polygon Solutions is adding broach gauges to their line of machine cutting tools. Broach gauges can be used to make sure that the size of the hexagon or square hole has been machined properly. Broach gauges are held to tight tolerances.

Go/No Go Guages

Polygon’s broach gauges are made as GO and NOGO pairs. Each gauge (or gage) is designed to be held by hand and inserted into the hexagon or square hole. If the NOGO gauge fits, then the hole is too large and the part fails inspection. If the GO gauge fits, then the hole is the right size and the part will pass inspection. If the hole was too small the GO gauge would not have fit inside. Gauges also can help to determine if there is too much twist in the form, a common feature of holes manufactured using the rotary broaching process.

Broach gauges are made of durable hardened M-2 tool steel. Broach gauges have no taper, and are made to custom shapes and sizes. For more information, call Polygon Solutions at (239) 628-4800.
